PDIP: No Communication with Anies Regarding Jakarta Regional Elections

HARIANMERDEKA.ID, Jakarta - The Secretary General of PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, revealed that up to this point, there has been no political communication between Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and the PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP PDIP) regarding the 2024 Jakarta Regional Elections (Pilkada).

"The names mentioned earlier (Anies Baswedan) have not engaged in political communication with the party's DPP," Hasto said in a press conference at the PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/05).

Hasto emphasized that the DPP PDIP always listens to the aspirations of the people regarding Jakarta. This is the focus of PDIP in determining the candidate to be supported in the Pilkada.

"The process, including connections with surrounding areas, efforts to address air pollution, build a comfortable public transportation system, and tackle various environmental issues, are the concerns of the DPP PDI Perjuangan," he explained.

According to Hasto, after the Fifth National Working Meeting (Rakernas V) concludes, PDIP will immediately discuss and determine the names to be supported in the 2024 Pilkada. PDIP has also formed a special team to review these candidates.

"The DPP has formed a special team in connection with the simultaneous regional elections," he added.

Hasto also explained that the current main priority of PDIP is to give opportunities to incumbent regional heads from the party. More than 137 regions are a priority for PDIP to first provide recommendations to the incumbent regional heads.

"The names proposed by PDIP for the 2024 Pilkada, especially in Jakarta, Central Java, North Sumatra, North Sulawesi, and East Java, will be further discussed after Rakernas V," Hasto added.

Rakernas V is scheduled to take place from Friday to Sunday and will gather inputs regarding the candidates to be discussed in the commission addressing the simultaneous regional elections.
