Member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Anita Jacoba Gah |
Anita stated, "I also request that in the priority of education funding, we must emphasise that the funding priorities in the 3T areas must be different from those in other regions." She argued that the educational needs in 3T areas differ from other regions, thus the components of education funding in 3T areas must receive special attention. Anita also pointed out that education funding has often been applied uniformly, without considering the different needs between 3T areas and other regions.
The legislator from NTT II constituency also conveyed the aspirations of several teachers in remote areas who still experience injustices, such as delayed allowance payments and lack of facilities like motor vehicles or boats to cross during floods. "There are still many issues in education funding, including teacher welfare, school infrastructure, and roads to very remote schools. This also needs our attention," she said.
Anita also highlighted the condition of the roads that teachers in remote areas must travel, especially during floods which force them to take detours through the mountains. "This also requires attention on how the government can allocate funds, including for educational expenses, not only for school fees but also for infrastructure and teacher welfare," she explained.
Therefore, Anita emphasised the importance of special attention and adequate funding allocation for education in 3T areas to ensure equitable and quality access to education throughout Indonesia.
